A week in Cape Town - Day 1

Friday, August 3rd, 2018

No early start this morning. Poor Theresa has volunteered to do all my washing, so she is a bit busy first thing this morning.

I'm busy sorting through photos and trying to work on my blog. It's a big job when one gets behind.
In the end, Theresa drives to Bloubergstrand with me, organizing some cheese etc on the way. She has packed a picnic which we devour on this beach. The weather is glorious and quite warm.

Way out there is Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for so many years.

From here, we also have a great view of Table Mountain. Just at the moment, the cable car is still not operating due to maintenance. We can only hope.

We drive up the hills in Tygerberg Valley and we end up at a winery with no wish to taste any wine. The views are great though and thankfully, they have no problem selling us a coffee instead.

A little stop by this dam on the way home where I immediately spot a pair of Egyptian Geese with Goslings.

Theresa and her family used to live in this area.

There is a lovely view over to the mountains which we will see more closely tomorrow.

Two days ago was Swiss National Day and of course, we have to have a little late celebration, hence the Fondue dinner.

After dinner, Theresa shows me around a market where she has her Nesjewels for sale. All these things are made from recycled (or is that upcycled?) Nespresso Coffee capsules.
Those of you who are not on Facebook may not be able to follow the above link.

These are a couple of examples of her craft work.

For now, I'm going back to the guesthouse with a load of freshly laundered clothes. Let the next adventures begin.
